Driver medicals are governed by DVLA Group 1 and Group 2 standards, which Wrightway Health’s driver medicals all meet. You can be sure that your employees meet the DVLA’s Fitness to Drive standards when you have your medical with Wrightway Health.
Our medicals cover:
- HGV, LGV and PCV drivers, for whom a D4 medical must be completed by a doctor in advance of getting a provisional license
- Taxi drivers
- Fork lift truck drivers
- Mobile plant drivers
- Company car/van drivers.
How much is a driver medical?
Our HGV, LGV, and PCV medicals cost £78 +VAT.
Who should have a driver medical?
lorry and bus drivers must have a medical at the time of getting a licence to drive these vehicles and then at the age of 45 and every five years until the age of 65.
After 65, the medical is required annually. This is the same for taxi drivers, who also need to bring the appropriate local council forms with them to the medical. We can assist in identifying these if required.
Do you staff drive as part of their work?
It is a duty of care for employers to ensure that staff who drive on behalf of their company are fit enough to do so. If you have staff who drive company cars, pool cars and/or their own car on a regular basis on behalf of your business then you should consider having an annual medical for them. The medical will ensure that both themselves and you, the employer, are aware of any medical issues that may cause a concern. This does not mean that they will not be able to drive but simply that there are the relevant precautions in place to ensure everyone’s safety and your peace of mind.
